Argo: pink circle at the location of any profile made in the window t0 +/- 12hrs.
Glider: A blue arrow shows the latest depth-average velocity estimated by the glider. A trail of arrow heads shows its path in the time-window listed in the key.
Radar: the average velocity using all available hourly radar velocities from the IMOS radar facility within a specified time window around t0. Eg (3-12h avg) indicates a minimum of 3 hourly radar velocity estimates are required within a 12 hour window. Shown red or blue to contrast with SST.
> Drifter: 6- or 12-hourly positions (see key) within a window of -4 or -2 to +1 day around t0. Location and velocity are indicated with pink arrow heads. These are drogued at 15m on deployment. A drifter that cuts across the geostrophic velocity more than usual may have lost its drogue.
Ship: Underway water temperature, plotted hourly, from research vessels (MNF and AIMS) with hull-mounted intake. Data within t0 +/- 1day is indicated with a small black dot at the ship location and a black circle indicates the measurement occurred within 12 hours of t0.

'Altimetric sea level and velocity' are Adjusted Sea level and the geostrophic velocity derived from that, respectively. ASL (ASLA plus Mean Dynamic Topography) is shown as white contours every 0.1m.
Geostrophic velocity: black arrows indicate the path something would travel over a 12hr or 24hr period (as indicated) at this velocity.
The latest ASL (NRT00) map is usually dated 4 days behind real time, as indicated.

The 200m and 2000m isobaths (or see key) are indicated in cyan.
